Day 21: More Technical Trials

Once again I spent a heap of time (two-and-a-quarter hours) on chats with three different tech support people this morning. As a result, my blog completely blew up, and when the guy tried to fix it, it blew up worse, until finally I asked him to revert it to its state before he touched it. To my horror, he said he couldn’t. I persisted, though, and here we are again: slow but at least visible and not throwing errors. For now. Things could be wonky for a while as they migrate the site to a new server. It’s all way over my head, so when things go wrong, I panic.

I was thinking about how Trump refuses, in spite of the latest CDC recommendations, to wear a face mask. And then I pictured him finally acquiescing, and donning the kind of mask he thinks most suitable for these dangerous times. I love playing with Photoshop.

I had two Zoom meetings yesterday. The first was with my own girls, plus Jesse [not pictured] and Ember.

Later was the virtual meeting I organized with my seldom seen Irish dance buddies, the closest of whom live about an hour-and-a-half from me. What you see here is most of the core eight-person team that won regional and national championships. You wouldn’t believe what we’ve been through together, all those years ago. Training for high-level competitions with a group of eight strong-willed professional women wasn’t always a picnic, but we forged unbreakable bonds.

Later on, Karen inspired us to don hats.

Missing from our gathering, but remembered fondly and toasted, was Marianna Colvin, who died of cancer over a year ago. She’s the one who, when I visited her two days before her death, assured me she’d watch over me when she was gone.

Want to see our signature High Caul Cap, during a dance competition about 15 or so years ago? I have no idea where I got this video so I can’t credit it. Oh, drat. I just noticed that Karen’s not in it.

Syd asked me where I got the ideas for my dog drawings. Sometimes I’ve been inspired by pictures of friends’ pups and by my own family’s hounds, but lately I’ve been doing a very sophisticated search for source images on the Internet: I type in “dogs”—and voilá: an attempt at a Labrador retriever.
