High-Flyin’ Bird

It’s taken hours, but I’ve finally figured out how to view and reformat and edit the video that the skydiving place provided of my jump. I have resisted the urge to cut out all the parts where my face is being blown off my skull like seafoam off the ocean waves. Had I done so, it would have been a very short video. You’ll also notice that it seems that I’m flapping my arms as though trying to fly. Actually, I was trying to do the opposite—hold my arms still—but the Mighty Wind made that impossible. Perhaps most impressive about my body’s adaptability to rapid descent from high altitude was how my nostrils converted into miniature support parachutes.

Finally, here are are two post-landing photos. In one, my skydiving leader’s hand seems quite comfortable in the region of my chest. I hadn’t even noticed till I saw the pic. Funny how things related to Personal Space seem less important when you’ve fallen through the sky with someone.
