The Good

Per my proclamation in my prior post, I …

Ack. Too many “P’s.”

What I mean is: as I said in my last blog entry, I will be full of nothing but cheer here. This is why I will tell you of the tradition (held for some 18 days now) that I have with my children. Yes, Molly: it was your idea… to send an e-mail to one another about something good about each day.

My good for today was patting the ridiculously extended noses of the two horses across the street from me, prompting me to wonder, “Why the long face?”

I wish I had a chocolate chip cookie from the Davis Food Co-op right now. Not that I’m complaining, because I am (as my grannie would have said) “counting only the happy hours.”

Here’s a picture of two of my boys, taken from The Dry Garden (Oakland) Web site.

That’s Mikey and Bully-Stick, left to right. I’ve known them for 30-ish years, which is not nothing. I was twenty-three when I met Bul, and maybe 27 when I met Michael. I was still sweet and hopeful then.

I don’t mean that negatively, of course.

Happy 60th, Nancy!

  1. Hi Ginna:
    Thanks for the birthday greetings!
It’s not so bad having passed this milestone—had several friends get there first and they survived. I suppose it’s just the more frequently passing thought of one’s own mortality that gives me qualms.
Enjoy catching up with you through your blog!
Emmy is adorable and I think she looks a bit like you now that she is older.
    Take care!

  2. Hi, Nancy. Yeah, mortality is a strange concept for a living thing.

Thank you for saying Emmy looks like me! I should BE so lucky!
