The Estudiante Blues

Published by at 3:40 pm under Travel,Video

Yet another linguistically discouraging day at school, and nary a travel story to report except a fun dinner with my two favorite people from the Tikal trip, along with a woman I would have favorited if I’d talked to her. Their lodging in Antigua has mesmerizing views of Agua, Fuego and Acatenango. Fuego was spitting out a little tendril of smoke.

Anyway, my three dinner-mates are studying Spanish at San Jose el Viejo, which they really like. Beautiful campus. We talked about the trials of language acquisition and it helps to know I’m not alone in my frustration with myself. I noticed that we’ve all started to pepper our English conversations with the occasional or bueno.

Lacking further news, I’ll show you a bit of this morning’s ride to school in Luis’ tuc-tuc. The movie is about one megabyte so it’ll take a few seconds to load.

That wasn’t someone he knew. It was a silky anteater.
