Tongue Meat

When I first started learning about Web development, getting an image to line up on an html page was a major coup, and an animated gif was the ultimate in cool — only truly appreciated the high-tech few who were lucky enough to have a color monitor: one of those big ones, the size of a box of Rice-A-Roni.

I started to make weekly trips from my house in Sierra foothills to San Francisco where I took a few classes at SF State’s multimedia studies department. That’s where I met my dear friend Jill, who was studying to be the programmer extraordinaire that she now is. One of these classes was quite advanced: in only four months, we would attempt to build a real live Web site!

We did it. Illustrations are by Molly, who was about seven at the time. It was her first paying job.

Tongue Meat: An updated, relocated, animated version of a traditional African tale.

    Totally cool!

My favorite part was the .gif where the little flowers appeared on page 3! That there’s awesome animation!
